Flaming Gorge

This area in southwestern Wyoming doesn't get as much tourist attention as it should. It's really quite fantastically scenic. Most of the dinosaurs you're familiar with were discovered here. They're still making pretty significant new finds, such as the Como Bluff area where Jack Horner found the Maiasaura nests.

A shot of your typical Wyoming sunset.

This is a little creek that is formed by a spring next to the road.

You run into a little gelogical scenery loop on the way into the Gorge proper.

This area contains open strata from almost every major geological epoch. From some of the oldest rocks on Earth to relatively recent. A real geologist's paradise.

Nice ranch. Surrounded by public land.

The view from the edge of the ranch. Pretty exotic.

This little falls was kid of pretty.

If you get deep into the gorge, these are the kinds of views you find. Sadly, it doesn't convey too well in two dimensions.

This bridge crosses over the river that was dammed up to create the reservoir. It may be the only bridge left in the country that you can photograph wihtout getting shot.

This T-Rex was in the student break area at the Western Wyoming Community College. It's a pretty busy picture, but I like the contrast between dinosaur and buiding skeletons.

They have a few other nice specimens, including this Triceratops.
